The prefect camp held at the Rocklands campsite in Cape Town was a resounding success, with 40 enthusiastic learners representing 10 different schools fully engaged in an immersive leadership training programme. Taking place in April, the camp aimed to equip the newly appointed prefects with the necessary skills and knowledge to excel in their roles and make a positive impact.
Throughout the camp, participants actively participated in a wide range of activities and thought-provoking discussions centered around identifying the qualities of effective leaders. They were encouraged to reflect on their own leadership styles and aspire to become the type of leader who leads by example, inspires others, and fosters a sense of unity and collaboration.
In addition to the intensive leadership training, the camp offered an array of enjoyable experiences for the participants. They had the opportunity to indulge in refreshing swims, engage in friendly games, discover the art of archery, and immerse themselves in the rhythmic beats of drumming. An exhilarating obstacle course further challenged their physical and mental abilities, fostering resilience and teamwork.
The campers wholeheartedly embraced the activities and expressed their gratitude for the leadership skills they acquired. One enthusiastic camper joyfully exclaimed, “The camp was an absolute blast! We played exciting games, learned crucial leadership skills, and had an abundance of delicious food.” Another camper expressed deep appreciation, saying, “The prefect camp was an incredible experience, and I gained a wealth of knowledge about fulfilling my role as a prefect. I am sincerely grateful to everyone who supported us.”
