A few months ago, our Mission Enablers (MEs) felt a strong urge to support the educators who open doors for them in schools. This was sparked by the immense pressure they observed these educators facing, whether from the department, parents, the school, or the children themselves. Many teachers shared their struggles with fatigue, stress, lack of support, loneliness, mental health issues, and even burnout.

In response, our Algoa team in the Eastern Cape discussed how they could help, leading to the creation of the “Educators Wellness Program.”

The aim of this initiative was to bring educators together, provide a light lunch, and invite a wellness expert to speak to them. The experience was incredible. The teachers deeply appreciated the gesture and requested that it become a regular event. Some even reported that their principals were unaware of the challenges they were facing and that they needed this kind of intervention. With the teachers’ input, we planned topics and activities they would like to see, and this will now become a termly event.
