Reflecting on 2024 and Looking Ahead to 2025
As we reflect on 2024, our hearts are filled with gratitude for all that God has accomplished through Scripture Union Gauteng. This past year has been marked by incredible opportunities, deepened relationships, and inspiring reminders of His faithfulness.
A standout highlight has been the growing number of chaplains active in schools. Many are retired teachers who were once involved in Scripture Union activities like School Christian Groups (SCGs), camps, and holiday clubs. It’s been inspiring to see God leading them back into schools with a renewed mission, now partnering with Reach 4 Life to make an even greater impact.
The celebration of SU’s 100-year milestone was another unforgettable moment. The overwhelming support and encouragement from so many individuals reaffirmed the mission of SU and highlighted the incredible network of people eager to partner, volunteer, and invest in the next generation.
We’ve also seen the strengthening of existing relationships, which has opened new doors for SU to reach even more schools. Hearing children and teenagers share how SU has influenced their lives and schools has been a powerful reminder of the importance and lasting legacy of this work.
As we look forward to 2025, we are filled with hope and excitement. Our prayer is to see more churches partnering with SU and stepping into their role as mission enablers. We envision churches training their youth to lead School Christian Associations (SCAs) and SCGs in their schools and hosting holiday clubs that create meaningful spaces for young people to encounter Jesus.
We are committed to equipping and empowering more volunteers from local churches with the tools and training needed for relational evangelism. Our vision is to expand SU’s footprint in schools across Gauteng and reach even more young lives with the gospel.
As we step into 2025, we do so with faith, expectation, and a renewed commitment to seeing young people experience the reality of Jesus in their everyday lives. Thank you for being part of this journey with us—let’s see what God will do in the year ahead!
