Our Pretoria East team recently hosted a joyful and meaningful one-night camp for Grade 1–3 learners—a weekend filled with fun, fellowship, and the life-changing message of the Gospel. With the support of four dedicated SU leaders—the camp welcomed 9 enthusiastic children (5 boys and 4 girls) for a memorable sleepover experience.
A Weekend Rooted in the Word
Throughout the camp, leaders guided the children through Bible lessons using both Scripture and the Wordless Book, helping them explore God’s love in a simple, visual, and age-appropriate way. These creative tools made it easier for young minds to understand the Gospel and ask questions freely.
We are thankful to share that 6 of the children responded to the Gospel message, raising their hands during the presentation as a sign of interest and openness to learning more about Jesus. Moments like these affirm the importance of creating safe, engaging spaces where children can encounter the Word in ways that speak to their hearts.
A Story That Stood Out
One of the most meaningful moments happened after Bible time when a parent approached a SU team member to ask how their child was engaging with the lessons. The team member shared how captivated the young girl had been by the stories, especially as pictures and simple object lessons brought the teaching to life.
The parent was surprised and admitted, “She’s never this interested when we teach her the Bible at home.”
This opened a beautiful opportunity for encouragement. It was suggested that they consider getting her a Bible of her own—since she didn’t have one yet—and explained how Peter’s notes would be shared with families so they could continue exploring the lessons together at home in a way that suits her age and curiosity.
Gratitude
A heartfelt thank you to our SU leaders and Brooklyn Methodist Church for hosting us. Your time, dedication, and hospitality helped create a safe and transformative experience for these young campers.
We celebrate what God has done through this one-night camp, and we look forward to many more opportunities to reach children with His love in Pretoria East.
