Ministry Highlights from SU Eastern Cape

On Saturday, 29 March, six enthusiastic teams took on the IronMan challenge – not just for personal achievement, but to raise support for Scripture Union Algoa. The atmosphere was electric as athletes, swimmers, cyclists, and runners joined forces for a cause close to our hearts: sending children to camp.

Among the teams were a group of dedicated teachers from Greenwood Primary School, two teams made up of SU staff and friends of the ministry, and three energetic teams from our Summer Special Camp community – made up of both teens and young adults. Their collective effort has already raised an incredible R14,340, and the Summer Special Planning Team is hoping to reach R30,000 by 1 December. Every rand makes a difference in helping a child experience the joy, growth, and discipleship that camp offers.

If you’d like to be part of this journey, support is still welcome through our BackaBuddy link:

Direct payments are also welcome – contact us for details.

On 1 April, we had the privilege of training 20 new Mission Partners who are ready to do ministry in their local communities. It’s always exciting to see passionate individuals equipped to serve children and youth in schools, churches, and neighbourhoods. If you are involved in children’s or youth ministry – or feel called to start – we’d love to connect with you. Together, we can grow the impact of SU across the Eastern Cape.

Please feel free to reach out to Tracey at tracey@su.org.za or call our office at 041 374 3164. We’d love to hear your story and find ways to partner with you in ministry.

Upcoming Events to Look Forward To
We’ve got a full calendar ahead, and we’re excited to invite you to be part of it. Here’s what’s coming up in our region:

  • Easter Camp in the Amatola area

  • Supporters Breakfast (Amatola Region – date to be confirmed)

  • Anchor Life Camp during the first week of May

  • SU Holiday Club Curriculum Training on 31 May

More details will follow soon, along with stories and photos from our recent “How to Plan a Holiday Club” training for churches running their very first holiday programs. Stay tuned!

Looking ahead, June will be a busy month with fundraising activities, camps, team-building sessions, and the official start of Holiday Club Month. We’ll be sharing more about how you can support or participate in the coming weeks.

Lastly, a quick reminder: SU EC offers criminal background checks at R190 each – a useful service for churches, schools, or any individuals working with children. To arrange a check or find out more, contact Tracey at our office.

Thank you for your ongoing support, encouragement, and prayers. We can’t do this without you!
