Empowering High School Learners for School Ministry

In October, Scripture Union Western Cape hosted 30 young people from high schools from across Cape Town who are united by a common desire: to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ in their schools.

Our dedicated volunteer speakers and staff conducted informative sessions covering topics such as running a Christian Union Group, structuring effective committee meetings, planning content for a term, and creating relevant material to address the challenges that teenagers face today.

While we came prepared to provide training, we found ourselves learning from the thoughts, ideas, and opinions of these inspiring young leaders. Their insights filled us with hope for what God is accomplishing in the lives of young people today. Christian Union groups at various stages of their journey, from those not yet started to those successfully led by committed student teams and those struggling to gain momentum, came together, exchanged ideas, and offered mutual encouragement to continue following God's call in their schools.

This gathering provided an uplifting opportunity to connect with these young people, understand their aspirations, and identify areas where they need support. We consider it a great opportunity that Scripture Union can serve as a space for young people from diverse backgrounds and circumstances to come together, support one another, and grow together.
