As the year draws to a close, the SU Western Cape family reflects on moments of deep gratitude, new beginnings, and inspiring encounters that continue to shape our ministry across the region.
A Farewell and New Chapter for Grant
After five-and-a-half years of faithful leadership, Grant has stepped down as Western Cape Regional Director—a bittersweet moment for all who have served alongside him.
“It has been a tremendous privilege to serve SU and lead our regional staff team,” Grant shared. “Working with young people—so full of enthusiasm, passion, potential, and life—has deepened my passion for God’s kingdom.”
Grant now steps into a new calling as Minister at Claremont Congregational Church (not to be confused with East Claremont Congregational, where he previously served). Having grown up in that congregation, this transition feels like a return home.
In a wonderful continuation of partnership, Grant will remain connected to SU by developing ministry resources and training materials for Mission Enablers and volunteers—ensuring that our ministry to children and youth continues to flourish.
Reflecting on his journey, he shared a message of humility and grace:
“God can draw a straight line with a crooked stick. Whenever I start thinking the straightness of the line depends on me, I’ve forgotten who is holding the stick! I’m deeply grateful that, in His grace, God has seen fit to use me as part of His kingdom work.”
We thank Grant for his servant leadership, his wisdom, and the countless ways he has inspired both staff and volunteers.
Schools United: A Night of Worship and Connection
On 23 September 2025, youth from across Cape Town gathered at SACS for the Schools United event—a vibrant evening filled with worship, connection, and encouragement.
The message, “It’s Not About the Bucket,” reminded everyone that Jesus alone is enough, drawing from John 4:14:
“But those who drink the water I give will never be thirsty again. It becomes a fresh, bubbling spring within them, giving them eternal life.”
The praise team’s energy filled the venue with joy, while the Ambassadors Youth and leaders worked tirelessly behind the scenes to make the night one to remember. It was a powerful reminder of God’s presence among His people and of our shared purpose—to know Him and make Him known.
Holiday Clubs Making a Lasting Impact
Our George and Langa Holiday Clubs brought together passionate young leaders who gave their time and hearts to serve children in their communities.
From George, one young leader shared:
“I was the kind of person who didn’t believe in God, but after Holiday Club my heart opened. Being part of Holiday Club made an impact on me—and on my township. Now others see me as a leader, and I want to keep walking with God.”
In Langa, another volunteer reflected on how serving stretched and strengthened her faith:
“Teaching children gave me a new perspective. I saw how a person’s background shapes who they are, and how, as believers, we stand in the gap. I finally learned what it means to ‘love your neighbour as yourself.’ Every session left me with a feeling of accomplishment.”
We celebrate each leader, volunteer, and supporter who made these clubs possible. Their dedication continues to echo through the lives of the children and communities they serve.
Together, we remain committed to our mission: introducing children and youth to Jesus, helping them know and love His Word, and finding their place in His church.
