Doing whatever it takes to reach young people for Jesus
Ministries
WHAT WE DO
At Scripture Union South Africa, our primary focus is mission enabling—equipping, supporting, and walking alongside our ministry partners (MPs) to effectively reach children and young people with the Gospel. We believe that lasting impact happens when local leaders, volunteers, and churches are empowered to run sustainable, relevant ministries within their own communities. Therefore, we invest in training, mentoring, resource development, and ongoing support to ensure that those on the ground are confident, capable, and spiritually equipped to introduce young people to Jesus, the Bible, and the church.
Flowing from this mission-enabling approach, a range of ministries are implemented through our partners across the country.
At Scripture Union South Africa, our ministries are implemented both directly by our staff and in partnership with Mission Partners (MPs), ensuring a wider and more sustainable reach among children and young people:
01.
SU staff and MPs engage learners through school visits, Christian groups, and outreach programmes, creating consistent spaces to share the Gospel within schools.
02.
SU facilitates and hosts camps, often in partnership with MPs and churches, providing impactful experiences focused on life skills, faith, and personal growth.
03.
Run by SU teams and local partners, these programmes use fun, interactive activities to reach children during school holidays with relevant Bible teaching.
04.
Through SU initiatives and MP-led efforts, ministry takes place within communities, responding to local needs through mentoring, outreach, and relationship-building.
05.
SU and MPs journey with teenagers through discipleship groups, leadership development, and ongoing mentorship, helping them grow in their faith.
06.
SU leads the development of SASL resources while staff and trained partners minister directly to Deaf children, ensuring access to the Gospel in their heart language.
