Vacancy: General Administrator

Scripture Union (SU) South Africa is a Christian mission and registered NPO (008-036) reaching out to the young people
of South Africa with the Gospel. It was established in South Africa in 1924 and has a presence in most of our provinces. It aims to lead young people to know and walk with God.

The primary objective of the General Administrator:

The primary objective is to provide general administration support to the National staff team.

Key responsibilities:

  • ·Oversee the day-to-day operations of the office: maintaining supplies, equipment, facilities, managing schedules, and ensuring a smooth workflow
  • Handle incoming and outgoing correspondence, including emails, letters, phone calls, and maintain effective communication channels within the organization
  • Organize and maintain files, create and maintain digital records, manage databases and archives, ensuring accuracy, confidentiality as well as ease of retrieval
  • Provide administrative assistance to staff members, including scheduling meetings, coordinating travel arrangements, preparing documents, and conducting research as required
  • Assist in organizing and coordinating company events, meetings, conferences, workshops, logistic requirements, venue booking, catering, and materials preparation
  • Assist with basic financial tasks, such as processing invoices, tracking expenses, reconciling accounts, and maintaining budget records under the guidance of the finance department
  • Assist the HR Manager with HR-related tasks like collating and maintaining employee records and assisting in the recruitment process: onboarding, termination processes, general assistance of employee documentation and company benefits

Qualifications, knowledge, and experience:

  • Evangelical Christian with active current church involvement;
  • Relevant tertiary education qualification in Business Administration/ Project Management or a related field (Diploma or Degree),
  • Experience and previous track record in an NPO environment
  • Computer literate (Microsoft Office)
  • Experience in event and project management (minimum of 3 years’ experience)
    Financial acumen (Xero)
  • A basic understanding of HR related administration
  • Ability to work independently and be a team player

Vacancy: Deaf Resource Development Coordinator

The primary objective of the Deaf Resource Development Coordinator:

The primary objective is to be able to take our existing resources and research new and relevant resources and translate that into SASL video’s as well as then identifying the schools for Deaf children that would like to use these resources.

Key responsibilities:

  • Translating current SU resources into SASL video’s
  • Identify new and relevant resources for the youth in schools for Deaf children
  • Liaising and building relationships with Headmasters/ teachers in all the schools for Deaf children in SA
  • Willingness to travel nationally
  • Training of volunteers and teachers on how to use the resources in their schools and communities

Qualifications, knowledge, and experience:

  • Evangelical Christian with active current church involvement;
  • Grade 12
  • Must be able to communicate in SASL as first language
  • Good understanding of English and able to translate it into SASL
  • Good understanding of the needs of Deaf youth in SA
  • Leadership and project management experience
  • Computer literate
  • Ability to work independently as well as be a team player
