Independent Schools ministry has continued in full force with the appointment of Kyle Middleton to serve in KZN. With the assistance of Ali Coleman, former Regional Director of SUIS, Kyle has hit the ground running with his first Unity meeting which was held in mid-September at The Wykeham Collegiate. These meetings take place twice a term with roughly ten schools in attendance, focused on supporting the leaders of School Christian groups in their development as leaders and disciples. The time together was amazing as the learners quickly got to know one another through open sharing with others engaged in similar life experiences. A combined band from Open Skies Church/The Wykeham Collegiate led worship while the teaching responsibilities were shared by Andile from One Life Church, who led the Matric session, and Kyle from SU who spoke to the balance of the group about leadership: God does not call the equipped, but equips the called. The students really enjoyed both talks and filled the remaining time with questions. In future, the goal is to have more schools and churches engaged so that this regular event becomes a significant leadership training tool to effectively equip these young people for ministry at school, at home and with their peers. There is already great excitement building for the next unity meeting scheduled at St. John’s Diocesan School for Girls early next month. Please pray for these Unity events—pray that God will move in the lives of these young leaders and raise them up as lifelong disciples of Jesus.
