Honour may seem like some old-fashioned idea that requires a horse, a suit of armour, and a knight. In fact it’s way older than that. Long before Sir Lancelot (what a great name for a guy who must have taken part in the sport of jousting!) was defending the honour of maidens, the writer of Proverbs said this: ‘wise living gets rewarded with honour ‘ (Proverbs 3v35).
To have honour means having the respect of those around you, having a good reputation, having people look up to you. It’s more than being popular or just being an example, it’s being a Godly example that people want to follow.
