SU Amatola ran Arise Camp 2017 (a leadership training camp) on the first weekend in February. Organised by fieldworker Dewald van der Walt, with the support of local youth workers, the aim of this camp was to raise up new leaders in the community and schools of East London, so that they can make an impact in their surrounding area.
They were blessed with awesome weather and could enjoy a range of outdoor activities so campers could get to know one another. Overall the camp was a great success. The kids really responded well and we received great feedback from them.
At the camp, we spoke about getting to know Jesus and how important it is to get into relationship with Him. On the Saturday we spoke about how important it is to read your Bible. After the camp, one of the parents got in touch with us to let us know that her son was up every morning at 05h00 reading his Bible – just awesome feedback!
The campers where from different churches around East London; new friendships where made and we are really excited to see what God has in store for next year.
